About Gail

There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream & find out why they’re falling in.

Hello!

I started my career as a social worker, a family counsellor and a parent educator.  After becoming a teacher, I worked as a school counsellor in many different schools before moving to a district role supporting health and well-being for students and staff. Now I work as an educational & workplace wellbeing consultant and coach. I am particularly loving my coaching work with the BC Children’s Hospital’s Health Promotion Team where I work as a mental health and wellness coach for school districts across BC.

I am also energized by speaking and presenting. As a big podcast fan, I have loved being a podcast guest on several different platforms so I gathered some friends to do a podcast bookclub series to introduce the chapters of the book. It was so much fun!

There are some supportive and connected networks that have developed and supported my passion for spreading the message about the importance of well-being. I am the past chair of Social Emotional Learning BC and have been part of the steering committee of the BC School Centred Mental Health Coalition for many years. I am also grateful to have been part of two amazing communities of practice that have helped shape my work, the EdCan Staff Well-being Network and the Compassionate Systems Leadership Network.

With two bachelor’s degrees and two master’s degrees in psychology and education I have a lot of formal education but it is connecting this formal learning to practice and people that I love the most.  I am currently working on a Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Policy at the University of British Columbia and beginning some research that I can’t wait to share.
